Need help from Banshee brothers
#1
I have an 87 shee. Since I have owned, it has never run like everyone says a Banshee should. Was stock when i got it, I put on Trinity single carb, 34 PJ, and a Dynaport 2into1 exhaust. This setup gave me a lot of rideability in the woods with great low end torque ( I also changed the front sprocket to a 12 tooth) I had tried jetting, tuning and everything else I could think of and it still was not the badass wveryone said it should be. I have owned and been riding since 82 so I don't think it is my riding style. Anyway, now I have replace the single carb with the stock duals and replaced the 2into1 exhaust with the stock dual pipes ( mostly so I can ride in my yard without pissing off my neighbors) Now I think the same problem exists as when I first bought it, I am not getting full burn in both cylinders all the time. It seems to be intermittent, sometimes left then right and sometimes both kick in as I can feel it when I ride and see it out the exhaust. The only thing I have not replaced is the CDI; new bore, rings, gaskets, reeds. I have obviously synced the carbs as good as can be done. Does anyone have any input? Is this a carb sync problem or a CDI problem? Tired of just keeping up with an LT250, should be smoking him, right? Help.

Hmmm, could be a faulty CDI or a bad pick up coil..... Have you done a spark test???? If not, do so and see if you have a weak spark..... Make sure all electrical connections are clean...

Do you mean, test for spark or test for spark strength. There has never been a time when I have not gotten a spark from either wire, and when I do a plug check, both seam to be burning just fine. ( light brown) Is there a specific test for the CDI that I am not aware of? Thanks for the info so far.

This might be a stupid question, but it has happened lots of times. Did you put the slides in the stock setup with the cut-away towards the rear? They will act very erratic and not run very well like that.

It's been awhile since I put it back to stock so I will check that. Sounds like a stoney thing that I might do. Thanks. I am also looking for a method to check for spark strength if anyone can help.
