Best steering stem for Raptor?
#2
My wife did the same thing on her Raptor. We got her a Lonestar stem with the anti-vibe clamp, (you need the clamp) they clamp comes in standard and 1-1/8 for fat bars. You may want to buy a new top clamp for the lights and the key as the Lonestar clamp does'nt provide any light or key holes. you can use your Tag top clamp but then you have a black top clamp and a chrome bottom clamp. (if it matters) I would recommend the +1 stem over the standard if you have a real low rise bar set-up. I got the best price at Ronnie's (300.00 with the anti-vibe clamp) but that was last year so look around. You won't need anything else except patients because you have to remove the gas tank to get to the bolt on the upper stem column. Good luck!

The only bad part about using a stronger than stock steering stem is that the frame bends instead of the steering stem when you crash. I've seen it happen to two of my buddies. I went back to using a stocker after that. I'd rather replace the stocker(which are less than $100) more often , then have to straighten the frame after a good rollover.

I agree with raptoraz, ive seen this happen also. The same thing goes for the bars. For instance if you buy a nice set of bars that are hard to bend..Renthals, if and when you wreck your not going to bend the bars but you'll end up bending the sterring stem. Ive wrecked twice on my renthals, both times i bent the steering stem, and the renthals were not touched. my advice get teh stocker for east coast atv.

no if you get a lonestar stem you wont need the clamps anymore you just use the clamp that comes with the stem but be sure to get the mount for oversized bars
also i like the anti vibe alot better than the stocker if you are worried about a bent frame then you should gusset it for strength
i plan on gusseting mine sometime this summer when i take it apart to powdercoat it
