my rapter starts making this awfull noise, like its tryn to hock somethin out the tail pipe. jst like pow and put put put its a 01 an i run er hard man

Sounds like a jetting issue or a carb boot popped off. If the jetting is lean it will cause backfiring, and it will usually cause a carb boot or two to pop off as well.

 

Hey maddog, what clutch was it that broke? Was it the raptor's?

If its only popping when you let go of the gas, turn out the air screws out a bit more.

 

Yep, 2nd clutch plate from the inside. Ward660R busted a steel on his clutch, he went with a 6 spring setup now. That was the stock clutch and I've done a lot of holeshots on it, upgraded to a GYTR for now.

 

So the stocker gave up eh? What kinda mods are you running? I just ordered a GYTR and I hope that holds up better than the stocker. It was slipping kinda bad a while ago so I just got some EBC HD Clutch Springs and that helped but its toast now. Whenever Im going up a big dune, in 2nd or 3rd, it sometimes feels like I hit neutral and the engine just revs and hits the limiter. Going WOT in 5th also causes that [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]. I have to let off the gas and then it catches back. . So how do you like the GYTR?
