im looking to put together a 727 for my raptor a little at a time. get a part here get a part there i was just wanting maybe a list of all the things i needed inorder to achieve what i want. where what i have on my mind feel free to add or take away anything

-105mm bore
-12.5:1 compresstion je piston
-heavy duty head and base gasket
-titanium connecting rod

 

the cases will need to be machined.

 

You will have to get a new sleeve to accept the 105 mm bore. The stock one is good to 102mm. Of course the piston and gaskets. The cases also have to be bored fo the bigger sleeve to fit into.There are some stroker cranks being worked on that will use 102mm pistons and give over 700cc's.The Ti rod is light but not needed. Most builders have gotten away from JE espcially on the big bores and now use Ross or Cp pistons.

 

ok well how about getting a higher compresstion piston like a 12.5:1 and getting a good rod will that be a pretty good combo with just a drop in piston

what about aftermarket carbs, you dont have them listed in your sig.

 

yea ive thought alot about those i dont know to go with edelbrock or a FCR or FRC whatever it is

 

go with the FCR's. alot of guys on here i think run the FCR's. i have not heard alot about the edelbrock.

 

Scholle, I havent seen anyone but CCR using the Ross and CP pistons. Kenz, Barkers, Trinity, Sparks, and others are all still using JE pistons as their raptor bread and butter from what I've come acrossed. Personally I would prefer a Ross or CP piston for a raptor, I'm still a little uneasy about them; at least on the raptor.

I wouldnt go with a Ti rod, I really dont think they are necessary. Not to mention they are about 3x the price of the best chromoly/steel rods. Unless you are going with a very big piston and a more aggressive cam I just dont think its worth it.

Carbs: 35 or 39mm Keihn dual FCR's are the way to go. The setup you are looking into would probably run great on 35's but 39's may work even better.

is there a big difference in a 11:1 and 12:1 comp. jump
