Reverse Light Flashing??? Mean???
#1
I changed oil in a 02 660 Raptor when I had it running for awhile I was reving it up about 3k for a steady time and the reverse light started flashing what does that mean?

What are the specific problems associated with over-revving the motor while in neutral?
I have seen different threads which suggest this is bad, which obviously makes sense, but what components stand to be damaged from doing this? Just curious, thought it'd be good to know...

When I first saw the flashing light I though it was either the high revs or low oil. The revs are a little high at first but I have to maitain the higher revs in low temperatures to get it started in order to prevent the motor from stalling (Kodiak 450). The light comes on after a couple of minutes but stays on no matter how low the revs go or until I put it into gear. Since I don't seem to be damaging anything (I think) I haven't given it too much thought. Anyone else with an opinion?

High revs on a cold engine will shorten ring and piston life and can cause a loss of performance.
This is why the choke exists. If your choke doesnt work, you need to adjust your air/fuel screw(s) and pilot jet(s) because your bike is starving for fuel at idle. You also need to turn your idle up during the colder months.
