I painted my stock rims for fun...I was suprised with the outcome and it holds up really good...if you do it right. Its black with silver flake and it almost looks like a gunmetal in the right light. Awesome in the sun. Tell me what ya think

What type of paint did you use?Looks good.

 

I used I think it was duplicolor black metallic silver flake. And a clear coat used on wheels.

 

I want to do the same thing on my 04 Griz stock rims, I want to paint them red with flke and clear for ice racing , when I giturdun ill post pics, yours look great!

Look good, but you got to make sure they dont chip, they will chip pretty easy. i used the dupli color Metalic paint on my LT250R frame, got frame down to bear metal, Base coat, paint, clear coat. held up suprisingly well

 

Yeah... I prepped the rims good. put a nice primer coat on ands sanded. Than lots of good even coats and finmished it off with a clear coat. It is a textured paint too. Clear kinda covers it a little bit. I threw some rocks at it the other day and it took alot to chip LOL

 

Answered my question.I tried the Dupli-Color Metal cast not to impressed,It gave it a nice anodized look but did'nt hold up well to chips.Did'nt clear coat it though.I did put on the clear coat adhesion promoter,but it did not help it bond.Let us know how it works with the clear coat.
