raptor 660 or yfz 450?
hey all,
i'm new to the forum.
i will be buying a quad in the next couple weeks. i've narrowed it down to the 660 or the 450. i will be riding half the time with the family (trails mostly, some sand dunes) the other half with the guys.
which will be better and why? i've heard the 450 is not real trail friendly. any truth to that? what are the pros and cons of both. i've never ridden either i've always been a two wheel guy. family has to come first so we will be four wheelin now.
thanks for any advice,
ryan

did a search almost all the threads are about drag racing w/ heavy mods. i'm looking for a stock to stock comparison for a guy that will be a decent rider soon. ( i raced mx and stand up jet skis for years) like i said earlier i will end up doing a fair amount of trail riding with my daughter in my lap.

Welcome to the forums Rynokron. Both are great quads. However having ridden both if you want a more managble trail bike you will be happier with a raptor. they are great on our local trails in the NW not to wide. you will want to get a 12 tooth front sproket right away with your purchase and put that on there. if you go with 22" rear tires you will wanna get a bigger rear sprocket at that time. the raptor is just to high geared for the trail. gearing it down will make it funner, more managable and safer to boot if you go into the Smokey point cycle barn the big guy with the tattoos (bill) he rides a 450 on the trails. but thats what he races too.
there is a big group of lunatics that ride in the area come on over to our happy home on the forums Puget sound area riders
also if your interested in a nice Black raptor i happen to know someone sellin one locally he is also a moderator of these forums

I have not heard the LTE Duals on a raptor yet, but On a local guys Predapuss they sound sweet. and he can get em down to sound requirements for the oregon dunes wich is pretty low. My rap with a Yosh Titatium tri oval sumpin blows in between 94 & 96 DB so its not terrible loud. sounds real nice too. but i would like to try out the LTEs. Do any of your buddies have raptors or YFZ? have you ridden either yet?
