warrior making enginge noise
#1
I recently bought a 94 warrior that had sat for a year.
SO before andything i changed the oil and put in fresh gas and rode it like i was breaking in a new wheeler for a hr or 2 .
Been about a week and makes a clinking or clicking type noise in the engine.Has just been gradually getting worse what s her sickness?
Hope it s nothing serious.
Thanks

Valve...maybe both of them...how good of a mechanic are you?...shiming valves is not something I would do..however if you confident enough and have all the right tools it isnt that hard of a job.

Thanks
I was thinking it may be something with the timing chain but that was just my guess.IF it s the vavles like u think will it hurt it to run it.
It doesnt really make noise untill u start moving and it s not a loud or real noticable noise but loud enough to hear it.
I think it might be something me and my buddies could fix if its not to seroius to wear i can really mess it up.

If it doesnt make any horrific sounds until the quad starts moving its not a valve.
Do you have a manual?...also are you sure you drive chain is tight?...those can be pretty loud if not tight..ask my friend who blew his to shreds doing a wheelie...yikes!

thanks i ll check the chain.
But no its not a horrific sound at all.
I m pretty sure it sounded like it was at the front of the engine.
i thought maybe a timing chain because it sounded kinda like a sloppy chain but im not sure.
Glad to hear any other info u got.

I just finally got my 97 300ex to quit makin noise and finally runnin great, took out the manual and tought myself how to adj the valves at top dead center on the compression stroke the intake valves were locked tight and the exuast had like a quarter inch travel on both valves, adj both and it was like night and day diffrence. the thing starts first touch of the start button, no gas, no choke perfect every time. first thought it was the carb making it run bad, bought a new one and it still ran the same, i new the valves needed adj cus you could hear em, but after the adj, now it runs perfect. that may be your prob or may not, but adj the valves wouldnt hurt.
