Float setting maybe. Did it always do it or start suddenly?

the tech at the shop said "if it was the float it would do it even under normal driving conditions"
it runs fine except when i put it in a bind like going up hill.

In my unproffesional opinion I still say float. The tech at the shop is wrong. My grizz got hot enough to sputter several times during a ride, it doesn't matter if your on flat ground or a hill with that problem. If your float was out of adjustment, it could very possibly give you problems only on hills.

If anybody thinks differently, please add your thoughts.

If its totally stock...air filter, exhaust, clutching..then its not the rev limiter. A stock grizzly wont hit the rev limiter in high, the clutching wont let it.
My best guess would be the float is too low, or the air box lid is off, or the intake has a leak.
If you pull on the choke, when it sputters...will it get better or worse? or no difference.

If it is lean it will sputter when you ask for power. I would try putting tape partially over the snorkle and see if that helps. If it does, then I would look into rejetting. What Throttle position does it happen in? I could also be the float out of postion. You should also check for air leaks around the carb. I will sometimes spray a little starting fluid lightly around the carb while it is running. If it is sucking air, it will affect the idle speed when it whiffs some ether.
