The ratio you use is going to be based mainly upon the oil you use and the state of tune of your bike.

Less oil more power smaller jets. More oil more lubrication bigger jets. If you change ratios though you have to change your jetting. Also not good to use a rating far from what the oil reccomends. I hear people running 60:1 and 80:1 all the time but id never do that to my motor :/ 32:1 for me.

As stated, the type and quality of oil should determine the ratio.
I have used Amsoil (fully synthetic) per their recommendations for years at 50:1
I also have used Golden spectro (semi-synthetic) at 40:1 for years.
Others recommend 32:1, and so on.
The main thing is to be sure you are jetted correctly. A lean motor will sieze a lot faster than a motor that is running slightly less oil in the pre-mix.

i run my highly modded polaris's at 80- 1 amsoil and they look like they have never been ran. inside after 2years. and the same for my turbo n20 snowmobile
