I have a busted tire, I'm sick, and its a beautiful day out so I'm pissed cause i have been stuck in all weekend and my friend had his new Raptor out this weekend so just ignore me for now. I was looking forward to comparing it to my ex.

 

My friend got a new 400ex, right after they came out. All in all, he payed over 7G's for his.. and my 97 Banshee will smoke the **** out of it..I didn't pay near that much! I'm very happy that the Raptor beat the 400ex.. (not that I don't like the 400ex) because in the older issue of dw, it said that honda has always been a stp ahead.. well, the RAPTOR shut them up! Finally, it looks like yamaha got something right! Hope it lasts that way!! later,

 

Its either the dealer he bought it from is a rip off artist or your friend is an a*s!!!! There are several people in here that have 400ex's and they are all in the same price tag(close), except your friend!! I paid 5800 out the door (new)!! Maybe your friend should find another dealership because I've never heard a price like that. One more thing!! Nobody stays on the top very long, not like Yamaha ever was!!

 

The STG 1 kits can be slower than stock!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I just got back from Glamis, where there were several 400ex's, and even without sand tires or mods on my Raptor, I was smoking them both in a quarter mile drag and just tearing across the dunes and the nice straight "highway" there. Not sure about an MX track, since so much of that is the rider, but in the open, Yamaha owns.

If you have a minute take a gander over to the Honda forum and go to the topic "400ex owners" This should explain what I'm saying and just keep in mind that these people are from all over the U.S. Its either you or your friend or his dealer that are smoking heavily on the crack pipe!!!! All I have to say is, for a thousand bucks, I can make my 400ex a half a second faster.

and one more thing everyone. Track and Trail (st. college, pa) is selling a new 400ex for $5500. With tax and first time registration....that equals $5850.....

I'm staying with my 400ex. Yes, the Raptor is faster.....but i can live with that.
