I have always hated MX boots. And until they come out with some that are more flexible, I always will. I ride and race with a $30 pair of steel-toe work boots from Wal-Mart that have protected me from many crashes. I know they don't offer the ankle protection of MX boots, but the extra comfort is worth it to me. Im not as quick on my shifts with MX boots and, riding a 2-stroke, that counts.

You must remember, with protection comes ridgidity (sp?). i find it WAY easier to shift in MX boots cause all you have to do is slightly lift your leg and BAM next gear, where as work boots you must bend your whole foot. PS if you are lookin for flex, but would like to have ample protection SIDI makes a good hinged boot, and there are alot of wheeler specific boots you there also with trail triding soles that flex alot more the a dirtbike style boot
