Cam Chain Slipping
I just had my rod replaced and now when I'm almost ready to put her back togeter it seems as if the cam chain slips. I turn the motor over but the cams do not move. Sometimes it does but when I put the cam chain tensioner in the motor turns but the cam chain won't turn the cam. A buddy of mine mentioned some sort of woodruff key and possibly the builder screwed up something. We was turning that bell (what sits before the one way bearing) and it wasnt yanking the cam chain. He was telling me there should be no play, it should spin the chain. Any ideas? I have a trip to Silver Lake coming up and I'm ready to put a match in the gas tank.

Couple of thoughts...
Cam chain could be broken, did you replace it with a new one recently?
Could the cam gear on the crank be spinning on the shaft? Perhaps wasnt properly fitted back on?
The cam is held to the upper cam gear by 2 bolts on a rotating shaft. I would think that if these 2 bolts failed then the gear would fall right off the cam, but it may be something to look into.
If you know the cam isnt moving, my quesiton is whether the cam chain is moving.
If you didnt have the cam chain tensioner in the bike after reassembly, the cam chain could have very possibly come off the cam gear on the crank.

Cam chain is not broken. It was one of my first initial thoughts. I took the side cover off and it rotated the entire chain and it is fine.
My only logical conclusion is that the came gear on the crank is spinning on the shaft. I would assume that would require splitting the case (again). I am hoping the place I took it to will be honorable and fix it. However the motor is in the frame now and I have a dune trip coming up. My DS is far from being ready so my Raptor is top contender for the trip.
Again I had a buddy of mine hold the cam in place as I spun the motor and there were times it all rotated but it seems like when everything went back together the cam didn't want to rotate with the motor.

Take it back to the builder immediatly....it sounds like the tensioner wasn't installed correct and could have broken the chain...pull the tensioner....reset the cam timing and re-install the cam tensioner....MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THIS ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL
