haha i thought this was the yamaha forum, not WWW.JEEPFORUM.COM
But to answer your question- Rough Country BLOWS, the best lifts out there are made by Rubicon Express, try Jason at www.redrock4x4.com , tell him your from the forum (www.jeepforum.com) and you will get an xtra discount. Tell him what your plans are and he will tell u everything u need to know. And if you havent yet JOIN JEEPFORUM.COM by far the BEST jeep site on the net. G/L w/ the lift!

I would higly suggest getting a Rubicon Express (RE) 4.5 lift. RE is under rated and would probably give you close to 5-6 inches of lift. Here are the RE vendors I have delt with and have been impressed with:
~Greg at www.expertoffroad.com
~Mike at www.4x4rockshop.com
~Jason at www.redrock4x4.com
Also Dirk at www.dpgoffroad.com has a few very compleate set ups for XJ's.
I am a member on jeepforum.com as 87warrior. C ya over there!

With 4.5 inches of lift, you will need a SYE and a CV DS. You will not need this for "hardcoreness" but to eliminate viberations in the drive train. You might be able to buy rear shims for the leafs to dial out vibes.
As for I.D.ing you rear axle.....I am not sure. If you crawl inder there and look at your Diff cover, there should be someting stamped in it. I know for a fact on the D35/D44 rears they are labled for you. Not sure about the 8.25
Once again, I am a wranger guy just expressing what I have learned, You really should join Jeep Forum.com and search their archives (in the XJ portion ofcourse).
