Grizzly 600 oil bleed screw
#1
Is it necessary (following an oil change), and where are the oil bleed screws located on the cylinder head of a 99 Grizzly? The manual says nothing about opening them up following an oil change, but a friend has told me that it is necessary. Any experience?

My thoughts on that bolt, is that it exists, to check for oil pressure, when you suspect its too low. It provides a visual indication that oil makes it to the head. Ive never opened it up on my kodiak, and wouldnt..unless I thought I had an oiling problem.
I cant see how it would hurt to open it up, just a crack, to let some oil ooze out, but i also dont see any benefit.

I found a service manual for a 400 and the procedure appears to be similar.
There are two bleed screws. One is obvious, and on top of the oil filter cover. The other is on the right hand side of the cylinder, and it has a philips screw head inside a hex head bolt. After changing oil, you let it idle for a few minutes, then loosen the screw slightly to observe oil flow to the head. Mine seeped oil immediately, and I had no problem with it not sealing off again once retightened.
Got to get a 600 manual and learn about everything else. I swear it took way more than the 1.9 litres to refill it with oil after a filter change.
