Default Building a MX track........ How do they do it?

Well I was thinking about constructing a MX track in some feilds around my house, but im not sure how I should go about it. I have the equipment needed but Im just not sure how to make the jumps. It is for a quad so I know not to make it like a SX track or anything special, but how should I go about make the jumps? Like how big should a double be? How steep should the launch be and how tall? How far away should the landing be? and all these questions and more to make different types of jumps.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to make these judgements or how the people who create the tracks for a living do it. Maybe a website i could refer to or something of the sort. Or just ordinary input.

Any replies will be appreciated.

i dont have a track but i did build three doubles in my back yard. when i built mine i determined the size of the jumps by the room i had and how fast i could get going before the jump. as for the pitch of the jump i just started with what i thought looked good then hit it a couple of times to see how it felt and fine tuned the pitch as i thought needed. as for the landing i hit the jumps a couple of times with no landings to see how far i went then made the landings and fine tuned them from there (of course i wouldnt recommend this technique with huge doubles) but thats how i did it.

The easiest is going to be starting with table tops. Build then any length you want. As you improve, start digging out the center to make doubles.

That would be the safest way.

I have a couple in my backyard, i started with just a jump that had a low angle, and started from there. I would go off it a couple times, then raise the angle more and then more. Then if it gets big enough, ill make a little landing, and if it doesn't work right, ill make it bigger. I have this five foot table in my backyard, that we built for bikes when we were bored, i use that sometimes, over clear it by about five feet atleast, bottom out everytime though, im just to lazy to make a bigger jump with a landing. Start small and go bigger slowly. Trust me on this, one of the first jumps that i went off was at a sandpit...i hit it in third and flew, about 8 feet in the air...my friend was right underneath me, landed about 20 feet away from the jump...on my front tires!! slammed my head off the handle bars (with helmet on). Heh, was an experiance...now ive grown to control and handle the raptor for the take off, in the air, and the landing. Be safe though
