The best is the one that is easiest for you to maintain. This is a personal preferance question. I like foam filters because I think they are easier to maintain and work better in heavy dust, mud and water than K & N. Although I have never owned a K & N, i do know they take a little more care to get the most out of them.
I think the guys that ride mostly in sand tend to like the K & N more than foam.

Most guys that ride sand use foam filters to keep the fine sand out.

yea the K&N is great in conditions... i ride in dusty stuff and in the wet stuff and never found a problem with anythin gettin through, i would use the outerwear for added protection tho

I am racing a series and it is kind of dusty. And when I service my quad I notice that there is some dust getting by my K&N filter , so ordered some foam filters for the pro flo kit, and yes I was using an outerwear on my K&N, and I will still run it in the sand dunes here in Oregon, but for dust it is going to be foam for me!

UNI. Gave me more power and leaned me just right. From the factory I was running rich and installing the UNI in place of my stock foam filter was a no-brainer.
