Default YFZ vs BANSHEE

You are absolutly right you also have to remember that the shee came out at a time in atv history when law suits almost killed the sport. (3 wheelers) yamaha produced it at a very tame state so it did not suffer the fate of the 250r. Ive been riding atv's since 85 and there was a gap of about 10 years in sport quad development i just think its great that there is a choice now. And as to which ones faster in stock trim who's riding it where are they at but realy who cares the sports back.

alright...So This should be Settled?.. Stock for stock was the question asked at the bigging was it not?
Stock for Stock will Go to the YFZ. Becuase TheeYFZ is pushing out most of its potential stock, and a banshee is like a Sleeping beats. But When you start to add on and put parts on Dolar for Dolar on each bike, In the end the banshee will be on top.. Reasons Being: YFZ stock is pushing out pretty much all of the engins potential. The banshee is nowhere near its full potention when its stock so when you start to modd the banshee it "Comes to life." So ITS settled then? STock for stock =YFZ MODS at Dolar for Dolar =banshee. I Hope That this helps put some understanding in the peoples heads who say YFZ hands down and just keep ranting about how great the YFZ is. Who ever told you that lied

Default YFZ vs BANSHEE

I seriously feel stupider after reading this forum...see, I'm using words that don't even exist! My favorite comment was probably "stock, banshees have more low end that the yfz." HAHAHA....HAHAHAHA....HA...HA....Ok, come on!? I've been riding the oregon dunes since the age of 4 on an LT80. I've been riding a Banshee for the past 8 years, since I was 12. I will be buying a 06' YFZ 450 pretty soon. Why? Because they are a better bike overall. Better suspension, better handling, light weight, low center of gravity are just a few advantages. For jumping and riding fast (Not in a straight line, I actually like to RIDE) through the dunes, I can do it faster on a 450. But for christ sakes, a banshee with pipes and filters, jetted correctly, will smoke a 450 with a pipe and filter, IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I've seen it over and over and over again....I've done it over and over and over again. I've seen many races up box car since the 450 has been released. I love banshees, but I don't own enough money to own both, so I'm going to go with the all around better bike, and I feel it is the 450. But for drag racing, up-hill, down-hill, sideways or on flat ground, the banshee rules! And if anybody wants to come over here and try to prove me otherwise, I know a lot of guys with banshees who will prove you wrong over and over again.

Sorry, I little irritated after reading 6 pages out 7 of really.....I'll just use the word "funny" stuff.

The fact that your new YFZ450R super high tech 4 stroke can hang with, or beat a completely stock banshee (with motor technology from about 1965... yes.. the mid-late 60's, do some research) is nothing to write home about.

I havnt followed this thread to much lately, so I hope no one is singing this tune..

The stock banshee motor is in a completely quiet and tame state of tune.

To sum up this rediculous, way-to-long-lasting argument, the high strung, high technology YFZ 4 stroke single is nearly at the top of its game off the showroom floor.
The Banshee is dead off the showroom floor, and even still, the YFZ is only marginally faster.

If we are talking about handling, and motoX track abilities, yes, there is no comparison. The YFZ will dominate. It is basically the 250R of today. (as is the new Honda)
It would take some lightening, and some better suspension on the Banshee to make it a great motoX quad.

But this argument is about the FASTER quad. The QUICKER quad. The quad that will run away from the other in the dunes, and up competition hill.
There is no argument about this. This quad is the Banshee.

Once the YFZ modded out, and is fast and as powerful as it can be, (not much more than stock) The banshee is just getting started, and the sky is the limit for
the twin cylinder, 2 stroke.

.........ha ha ha.....well I guess I am a "purple emu worshipping, three legged, seminiferous tublodial buttnoid."

I couldnt stand to NOT reply to this guy! YOU ARE CLOSE TO ABSOLUTELY WRONG when you say that the yfz is already close to fully tuned on the show room floor!!!!!!!!!!! So I guess that is why the stock yfz450 puts out 39 horse stock, and a yz 450 motor is putting out over 50 and 59-61 at the crank!!! The yfz is anything but " nearly at the top of its game off the showroom floor." I am running just shy of 58 horse on my yfz. 39stock-58now..............not quite fully strung out after all.
You are also comparing a motorcross 4 stroke quad to a open class, twin cylinder 2-stroke!! The banshee was made to be fast in a straight line, the yfz was not. SO YES, I THINK IT IS PRETTY NEAT THAT THE "untouchable banshee" CAN AND WILL BE BEAT BY A YFZ 450 THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE ON A TRACK!!
You are absolutely wrong when you state that "The fact that your new YFZ450R super high tech 4 stroke can hang with, or beat a completely stock banshee" IT WONT JUST HANG WITH IT, A STOCK YFZ450 WILL BEAT IT HANDS DOWN IN A 300 ft drag. There is no hanging with it! Not untill you string the yfz450 out will you beable to take advantage of the banshee's stock 1-2 mph advantage!
The things you are right about is when that motor came around. It was actually in a bike before. AND that the banshee is indeed dead on the show room floor. It can be made to have serious horsepower. Yeah, you can say the sky is the limit for tuning on the banshee, but that is also where your pistons are going to go! Ha ha.
IF your out to make a drag machine, the banshee is the way to go, as it was always meant to go fast straight. AND you can make it into a fire breather of a machine. The yfz is definately limited to its amount of mods it can take. THE FACT IS: The yfz is in a higher state of tune off the floor and is way more technologically advanced, which prohibits it from making a ton more power. BUT, dont let this fool tell you that the yfz450 is pretty much at its highest state off the floor, because its NOT! There is close to another 20 horse to be had, without MAJOR modifications to the motor.
ANSWER ME THIS. How does a piped, intake, and properly jetted shee totally stomp a piped, intake, and properly jetted yfz450 that weighs quite a bit less (36 pound difference stock) has 48 horse in that state of tune, and is putting the majority of its power to the ground???............IT DOESNT
IT is a none FACT that the shee can NOT put power to the ground. It spins a good percentage of it away! Even if its making 50 horse along side the yfz450, the 450 will still win by a good margin. You have a good chunk less weight and your getting the power to the ground on the yfz. A stock shee makes about 33 horse stock. That is giving it a 17 horse increase with just those mods, which seems a little on the steep side if you ask me.
The simple truth in the matter is, you have to have a lot more horsepower on the banshee to beat a yfz 450 in a 300 ft drag race. Sure, it can be done, but you got to get into the motor to do it. That is why I never argued that if you want a drag quad, the shee would be the best route to go, for out and out straight line speed.
STOCK VS STOCK, the yfz450
Regular bolt on mods, The yfz450
Motor mods, THE BANSHEE

THE YFZ450 IS ONLY FASTER UP TO A CERTAIN POINT OF TUNE. I WILL NEVER ARGUE THAT!

Well if you ever start getting 75hp out of your yfz450 motor. It will be nothing more than a time bomb. Just waiting to go BOOM!!!!!! You can get a very reliable 75hp out of a Banshee motor with stock cylinders and a stock crank.....
