Default YFZ vs BANSHEE

I agree. I will never try to get more power out of my yfz 450 at this point. I am plenty happy with it. I only get into the occasional drag race with people, Not out there to do it all the time. I think my machine is plenty fast for what I do with it!
I am not sure if I totally will agree with "a very reliable 75 horse though" Depends what you have done to that poor motor. Not doubting that kind of horsepower in anyway, dont get me wrong, but "very reliable is kind of pushing it" I would have to say (in my opinion though) that after about 65 horse on a banshee, based off the mods I know of to get it there, that very reliable goes out the window. Reliable......yes, as long as you perform VERY good maintenance!

OK, so lets put the topic for stock up for discussion. The Banshee is sold in a state of tune that dates back to the old school days. Those of you who dont port cylinders really dont grasp the concept of how restrictive those jugs are. So they match up crappy pipes and small carbs to match to it. Pretty pathetic that they run the way they do anyway. Sooooooo........ lets jump to the 90's or even the new millenium. A stock Banshee today should have the equivalent of either fully ported cylinders or say even cheeta cub cylinders with decent pipes and 30-32mm flatslide carbs. Why not?? because the lawsuits would put Yamaha out of business. It's just the nature of the beast and the times and the frieken EPA Natzi tree huggers taking over. I like all ATVs and we all do it for probably the same reason, we like it. But in the end you guys are still comparing 25 year old technology to new techno whiz. Think of it as comparing computers. LOL

You guys that compare to a Banshee just sit back and think, your still trying to make people believe what you believe. Die hard 2-stroke guys will always be like this and there isnt anything your going to say to change it. I personally dont lke the feel or power range of the new 4-strokes, but that's just me. The day you guys can take your bike on motor, drive it across the dunes, then beat up on my Banshee will be the day I will change over. HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

I posted 83rwhp and 46ft/lb torque and have run the sh*t out of my bike all year with ZERO issues. The pistons still look 99% perfect. How's that for reliable?

Well I for one, as an x- banshee owner, am not trying to get anyone to "believe" in 4-strokes or anything like that. The only thing I am trying to do it get TRUTH out there. DIE HARD FANS ON BOTH SIDES (4-stroke and 2 stroke) GO TOO FAR. I Like stating factual information, and information I have gained from vast experiences. You said it yourself that the banshee motor is a dated motor and is in a poor state of tune.
What I have been trying to get across is that when you own a stock banshee, you are building on something that has quite the deficate to things like yfz's that have more technology in them, then the banshee could possibly ever have. SURE, you can beat up on yfz's that just have regular bolt ons, when you have a banshee motor that has 15 to 20 more horse because of motor mods..........but at the end of the day that yfz probably gave you a good run for your money, and it has no business being out there competeing against open class machines.
I still think its pretty neat when die hard banshee lovers get beat real good, by guys on MX quads with pipes, intakes and jetting done to both. Mx quads are coming out of there league, and still beating things in the open class. If that is not something to be proud of, I dont know what is.
.............it would be like having a banshee come out on the MX track and kicking the crap out of a yfz!

I think I am done with this thread now, I have made my point and backed it with facts. Take it for what its worth. IF your on a yfz and think you cant be beat by a motor modded banshee hands down every time, your wrong. IF your on a banshee and think you can sit there and beat yfz's (either stock or with pipes, intake and jetting on both) hands down every time, YOU TOO ARE WRONG!
Happy racing!

I will only post again if ignorance takes over this thread again!

.............which probably wont be too long, ha ha!

THat my friend is probably a wicked fast banshee, and I dont think you are going to have a problem with any 450cc size quad beating you!

It runs very well thank you.

So I cant help it if my wife has a drag 250R and a powervalved 265R for a rider. I have a Banshee and a LT250R. Our best friends wife drives a yfz 450. It has the HMF slip on, The ESR airbox eliminator, the aftermarket CDI, I did the cam mod on it, and they bought the Edlebrock carb. I must admit it runs very impressive. They are in the process of building a 470cc yammi with another bike and we'll see what the difference is. She has run a best of 5.10 in 300ft with the U-4 fuel. That is stout on our track. Mine went 4.4's, so I dont think they could shoot enough NOS to catch it LOL

2Fun:

I never make it up to Florence, but I ride in Windy Bay quite a bit. I mostly stick to Horsefall and Spinreel...it's only a 5 minute drive.
