alright. i been at this thing for probably six months now. i bought a 91 blaster that was non runnin for 500 bucks. the guy got into some trouble and was goin to jail. he told me it ran when he put it up 4 years ago. well come to find out the crank was shot and so was the top end. i replaced the crank, bearings, seals, top end, ignition coil, oil block off kit. well i mixed it with 87 octane gas and i mixed it 30:1, new plug and wouldnt even sputter. then i pulled it around and after a long long time and in about third gear half throttle it just popped really loud and roared to life. then in about 2 seconds died. this happend a few times until i fould a plug. found out i was running way too rich on the idle circuit so i fixed that and put the jetting back to stock and i did it again. this time it sheered a cheap flywheel key. so i did it once again and popped really loud took off then died, did that a few times and then just nothing. also one time this happend and it popped really loud, started then died and there was dark dark black oil EVERYWHERE. well i had to tear down the bottum end and use yamahagasket on the cases because it was pulling trans fluid into the cylinder so i fixed that problem. well i ordered good flywheel keys from yamaha and havent had that problem since but it still wont run. i cleaned the stator and flywheel very good and adjusted it a little because i thought that might contribute to the flywheel key. well im getting spark, getting fuel, and i have about 150 lbs of compression. i also replaced the ignition switch thinking that was the problem but i have no clue. does anyone have any ideas? thanks soo much!

 

check out your carb its probaly all gummed up from sitting so long

 

yeah if you havent cleaned your carb thers your problem right there. the reason it eventually starts is becuase after a while the enngione sucks enough gas throught the jet to make it start but not enought to make it run. definatly cheack out your carb

 

or it could be the tors unit on top of the carb it will fire for a few secs then die. thats what mine did . unplug the tors and she fired right up. it might be that..too
