Default Eiger vs Kodiak 450

Deciding between these 2. My bto has an eiger and its pretty cool, but the Koidiak looks even better. Which is a better quad, besides price diffrence.

Default Eiger vs Kodiak 450

Mess, I got a new Kodiak 450 a couple of months ago. My riding buddy has an '04 Eiger. The Eiger is a nice bike, the seat is more comfortable, if you need that. But, he is already complaining because my Kodiak has IRS and the front diff lock. I am just getting through the break-in period, so we haven't run to check top end. I suspect I will whoop him good. Check it out, get what suits you. The Kodiak is a little more $, but the extra features are worth it, least in my book.

Default Eiger vs Kodiak 450

Other than a slightly larger CC'd motor. The kodiak 450 has a few things over the Suzi:
Disc brake rear vs Drum rear
IRS vs SRA
3 way diff - 2wd/4wd and diff lock for true 4wd
LC with fan vs oil/fan
litte over 1" ground clearance due to the IRS

I recently bought the 450 Kodiak mostly based on Diff Lock but also really liked the IRS, after years of running SRA had to give it a whirl. So far very pleased with my desicion it rides/handles great and suprised at it's low grunt power. The diff lock came in real handy this weekend when we encountered a overrun creek bed, the base was gumbo and the kodi walked through meanwhile a couple of the others needed to deploy the winchs. The engine braking is very good, especially in low, almost no need for brakes when going down steep inclines. I wouldn't consider it a speed demon, but for a nice all round Ute it seems to be a solid choice.

I suggest test riding as many prior to buying, so you find what fits your style.

Default Eiger vs Kodiak 450

I've got a 05 kodiak 450 and love it. So this weekend I picked up a copy of ATV rider magazine and they have a 400-450 class shoot out. I could not belive what I was reading. They came down on the Kodiak like it was a Dog Turd!!!!. They chose the eiger. I got no problem with that but just the garabage they were talking about the Kodiak. They need to read on here what we've got to say. They must be paid off by Suzuki or pissed at Yamaha. I feel like e-mailing them that after reading such trash it will be the last time I pick up one of their mag's execpt when I run out of toliet paper. It obvious to me there's more to the story!!

CamoKodiak, liked your pics. Looks like we have more in common than Kodiak. I see the backend of Dakota in one of those pics. I got a red one too, Sport ext cab.
Now, I want to read that article you mentioned. I have gone head to head with the Eiger my buddy rides and hands down, Kodiak is a better bike. (except the cushy seat) I burn a little more gas, but hey, it's a bigger engine, 375cc vs. 421cc.

Go with the Kodiak! From what I hear they are both good bikes, but I would stick with Yamaha. Plus the Kodiak Looks a heck of alot beter than the eiger.

But is it worth getting the 450 or 400? the locker and digital stuff is nice, but is it 400$ extra worth it?
