Looking for some serious mud?Rocks, logs, deep mud. Serious mud can be driven through with everything from a volkswagon to a open class moto bike. I like to concentrate on serious mud by going as slow as possible and still making it! Rear wheel drive machines can do some serious mud at speed(volkswagon). I like serious mud going just as fast as needed(slowly, navigating). My Rhino does that and can also blast thru with the best of them.Starting in 2wd shifting to 4wd and then into diff lok if needed try staying under 7mph, is an option, How about you Mr. Grizzley? It makes serious mud holes more challenging. I think 4x4's will always do that easier. Then there is the story about the person who bolted a jet engine to their Buick.......Snow test with 2004 Rhino 27X12X12 Mudlites.... 11 inches 2wd. 18 inches 4wd ,can stop and start. 3 feet packed snow pile 10 feet long, 25 mph no problem.

i've rode mud with a Polaris Predator 500 and there's no way a 2wd sport quad would make it through to hole we ride...check out pics my in sig and you'll know....the only thing they hvae on my Grizz is speed but fly into our mudhole and you'll fly out of it without your bike....

it all depends on how long of a stretch your talking and how much of a run. At a mud run around my area every year there are always a couple snowmobiles and wheelers that show p torun with the big trucks. 12 inch lift and 49 inch iroks where the king last year they made it down the run the quickest for trucks. this is thick caky mud here a 660 with 29.5 outlaws didnt make it half way down the one xc600 made it easily and a 250r with some sand paddles almost made it through

think about it guys, a 2x4 racer can get a run at a mudhole and get x amount of yards.
a 4x4 also getting a running start at the same pit will get xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx amount of yards......unless it's quick sand of a lake. if you have a racer just stay high and dry

It just so happened that last weekend my daughter borrowed my 4x4 quad to go out with her boyfriend and his friends. Two of the guys had somekind of racing Yamaha 2 wheel drive quads. She told me they had trouble all day with the 2wheel quads, getting stuck, and getting winched out, etc. They were driving trails which went through muskeg. Our quad never got stuck. She didn't know what kind of quads they were by the way. Teenage girls don't pick up on that kind of stuff.

Tell them to prove it and like BuckShot12 said make them go first. That way you can laugh at them when they are stuck!

A 2wd quad may go farther in muskeg, as long as it stays on top and doesn't cut through

My buddy has a raptor 660 and I have 04 grizzy 27in ITP 589s and I have winched and pushed him through many mudholes I go along with the theory of hauling butt and skimmin through but when it comes down to it I will put my money on the grizz everytime. Just my .02
