Raptor oil level increasing help!
#1
I recently just bought a 2001 raptor 660, and I have noticed that the oil level in the black resovoir increases every time I get done riding it. The quad runs as good as new, doesnt burn any oil or smoke, seems to have great compression, and the oil is clean and does not smell like gas. but I always drain it to the full level, go ride it for about 30 min, come back check it, and it is about an inch overfull. What is going on?

I having a little problem understanding your question.. Is it actually exploding out of the reservoir when you remove the dipstick???? Obviously, your Raptor isn't making more oil as you ride, but the best time to check your oil level is right after you warm up your engine.
Checking your oil after you finish riding is gonna show more oil because its warm and the oil has been pumped through your engine more than a few times. When you check the oil after warm up, the oil hasn't yet been cycled through the system under a work load yet, and this will give you the most accurate reading on your oil level....

It's normal for the oil level in the resevior to increase when the bike is hot. When it cools, the oil may or may not drain back into the case. That is normal too. Best is the check the oil per the instructions in your owners manual. Bike cold, start and warm up, and then check the oil. Check it the same way everytime. If you just randomly check your oil level, you will find varying oil readings on you dipstick.

This sounds like an odd problem. Does the oil seem like it is thinner every time you ride the bike? Have you checked your antifreeze level? One thing you could do is to drain out all of the oil in a large glass container and compare it to fresh oil to see if it appears to be thinning. You may also want to verify that oil is acceptable with an oil sample analysis kit.

Not to familiar with 660,but, are you screwing the dipstick into the case or are you just setting it in till it contacts the case?On my 350,the manual says not to screw it into the crankcase. If you do it will give you a false reading of about an inch.Just a thought?
