I'm going to be purchasing a 2001 Kodiak next week and am trying to decide whether to get the 2000 Warn Winch or Yamaha 48" plow. Currently you can get one or the other as a promotion from Yamaha for $69. The Winch would be attached but not wired.

I will buy which ever one I don't get in the deal, because I want a plow and winch. My dilema is that neither is exactly what I like. After reading all the posts on here it seems most would recommend a Moose plow, and the although the 2000 winch would be sufficient for power, the roller fairlead and remote handlebar switch with the 2500 Warn is better.
I've seen the Warn 2500 for $339.95 plus would need to buy the mount. I've seen Moose plows in Dennis Kirk for about $409, for plow, tubes, winch kit and mount. Does anyone have the Yamaha plow, how does it compare? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got the plow 1 year ago it is a nice plow and really strong. If you get the manual lift you better be really strong. Mine is attached to a 2000 Grizzly, it is settup like a parking brake. The problem is you opperate it with your left arm and you dont pull straight back on it you have to pull back and away from the machine. Drop and raise this puppy a few dozzen times and you will be ready for the Ben ***, SERIOUSLY!!!. get the winch first and buy the plow later, but dont go with the manual lift, use your winch.
