Default Revalving Banshee Stock Rear Shock

I've heard of people rebuilding and re-valving the rear shock on Banshees.

Sometimes it's refered to as a "gold valve" or works type mods to the stock valving.

Is this a whole new shim stack, or just a bigger or different valve orifice size? I don't know what the banshee uses.

I've seen them come up on ebay before, is this a good deal?

With rear works shocks costing $500-600 for a rear, couldn't I just rebuilt a stock one instead?

Thanks for your input.
