I just got a 1988 warrior and need some help. It has no spark and the starter will not crank unless you ground the yellow and black wire from the cdi to the starter relay then it cranks over fine, but with out spark. It has new coil, spark plug, and plug cap. Checked wires for fraying and chafing and they look good. Readings w/ meter (Primary coil- .8 ohms, limit .32-.44 ohms orange wire to ground), (secondary coil- 7.32K ohms, limit 5.4K-7.4K ohms plug lead to ground), Stator readings (soure coil- 290 ohms, limit 270-330 ohms red wire to white/green wire), (pickup coil 197 ohms, green wire to yellow wire, 199 ohms blue wire to yellow wire, limits 180-220 ohms), (Charging coil- .8 ohms white wire 1 to white wire 2, .8 ohms white wire 1 to white wire 3, limit .31-.39 ohms). Also swapped in a known good coil from a 1988 Yamaha Terrapro (same part #) got coil readings within limits but did not help, still no spark. Does anyone have a idea of what I should change first or does anyone have a comprehensive trouble shooting procedure to check the CDI unit? All help is welcome!
