Default Blaster purchase

Ok All,
Go ahead and bash me cause all I have owned as far as quads go is Polaris. When it comes to dirt bikes Yamaha's are by far #1. I have been looking at Blasters. I would like to get one for the wife to ride. I wouldn't mind ripping through the gears myself since I have been riding the automatics for a while. Is there any years I should watch out for or I should try and get that are better than others. What problems are they known for. All bike makers have there flaws. Just wanta get a heads up before I buy one. The wife will only ride it about 4 to 5 time a month so it won't take a beating. Thanks for all your help.

I would get an 03 to 05 so you won't have to worry about the brakes

the blasters before 03 have drum brakes

also, the models after 03 have the cooler looking plastics (not that thats a problem though)

screw the rear brake, i never use it anyways. i always us the front brake. But if you want the best rear brakes go with the 03 05 models. If your getting a new one you better hurry cause there leaving the show by the end of the year

I looked at a 2000 blaster today and the rear brakes seemed to work fine. The front drum brakes were a hole lot spongey. Not that I would use the fronts much but I am not to keen on the drum brakes. Get mud in them and they are done.

They will wear out quicker and are still not up to par with disc brakes. I think you can use banshee brakes on them
