need advice from nw raptor riders (yosh pipe w/ dj kit)
i am adding a full yosh pipe dj stage two and k&n w/ a pro flow kit. should i drill holes in the air box or leave it? yosh recomends no snorkel and holes in lid, and dj says trim the snorkle no holes in lid. just wondering what you local guys have done. i don't want to remove lid because i ride the trails a fair amount and that means water and mud. i also do a little sand riding. thanks in advance for any tips.
btw, i did a search and read alot of good info, that's why i'm looking for advice from local guys. what has worked best for you?

thanks, that's the what i was thinking too. i also have a 12 tooth front sprocket will that still work ok with a full pipe? i bought it when i was planning on leaving the stock pipe on. i'm not really concerned with top speed and i don't do any racing, i just want strong acceleration and good bottom and mid range power.

Ryno... I am not local to Wash but regardless of location you will gain quite a lot if you remove the air box lid & increase mains jetting to accomodate. I recall using 155-160 Dyno jet mains with no lid but I also discovered the hard way that the dyno jet needles don't work well with the stock carbs. The easiest way to jet is with stock Mikuni needles & mains, try 170-175 with no lid, clip=3-4, 25 or 27 pilots with 3-3.5 turns out. You can run with no lid no problem if you remove or cut a hole in the drain plug. Then the water & mud will fly out of the bottom of the air box as quickly as it flies in. For best results, use a K&N filter with an outer wear prefilter & no air box lid. You will never get bogged down with that setup & will make max power/torque. Enjoy!
