Around here GM dealers seem to be real proud of there trucks, and I was able to buy a brand new Dodge for the same price as 1-2 year old chevies used. It wouldn't have even been close on the new trucks.

2+2=4 in the Real world. LOL

If the Dodge trannies are so good then why are they the ONLY one of the big three that aren't putting a heavy duty tranny behind a diesel with auto braking on it? Dodge is WAY behind in this catagory.

Yes you can buy a Dodge for several K less than the other two. Pretty much goes without saying IMO. But the resale reflects it on the tail end of the deal too. Not much to brag about if you look at it that way is it?

I just want better gas mileage, and a good way to level/lift my truck a little. any input?
thanks again.

You can tighten you torsion bars on the front end of the truck and get an easy 1-1.5" of lift to help level it at no cost. Just get an alignment when you get done.

As for buying a kit that will level it...you are out of luck here. The smallest option you have is a 4" lift kit and then up from there. Unlike the Ford and Dodge there aren't any actual "leveling" kits available for the GM due to the design of the front suspension.

Good luck,

Buck

the reality is, there are no bad trucks out today( american that is) i own dodges, becouse they have never failed me. my gm,s did, my fords i kill real fast, and easy. my last 2 were dodges 1/2 tons. loaded down( overloaded for the most part) from the dealer. never unload until i hook up my 7 thousand lb camper, and tow it anywhere. never lost a tranny( with over 100,000) miles between the 2. just change the fluids on time, and the trannys wont ever die! my dodge does not ride the best, nor is it the most plush, but when push comes to shove, it cant be beat in its catagory, and year model.
your new truck is nice, and the price is right were they are here in the motor city! kind of sick paying 30 grand for a truck though, aint it, lol. soon, they will charge 30 grand for an econo box car, with the way prices are going, lol.

eh, as for dodge. yes you pay less, but you get less, and the same goes for when you want to sell it, you get less.
Im aware that i can crank the torsion bars, but thats not good for the truck at all, and i will not do that. I was looking on cardomain.com and there is a guy that has a gm(nbs) with a leveling kit (rough country i think) so i know they make them for my truck, im just not sure where, how much, and if its a quality product.

Hopefully I can help out a little more on the leveling kit topic. I'll give you a quick description of where I'm coming from before I go into details of your options. I make my living doing just what you are asking about. I own and operate a truck accessory store that does around 2 million in sales annually. I know my products, trucks, and what works. All of my knowledge comes from experience being under and in the vehicles six days a week.

The leveling kit you speak of from Rough Country is nothing more than a joke at best. It consists of two torsion bar key ways that are cut differently than the factory ones. They are designed to put even more twist on the torsion bar than what you can with the OE keyways. Imagine turning your factory keyways enough for 1.5" of lift, now imagine being able to twist them twice that amount.....that's all you are doing. I have installed these keyways for customers on more than one occasion. I've ridden in empty dump trucks that would ride smoother in the Grand Canyon than these keyways ride.

Adjusting your OE keyways will do less harm than the kit you are looking at. I say this because for some reason you feel it will do harm by turning you OE units up, yet you are putting more stress with the kit you speak of.

Just an FYI.

Congrats on the new truck, they are pretty nice. Love the brand bashing too. I could do it, just don't see much point in it

How do you know what the resale value is on the new Dodges, they JUST brought back the hemi, yea thats right HEMI. Also why would you want to sell a dodge. The reason why Chevs real sale value is they got the chev then realized how much better is a dodge. Oh and dodge also got the fastest production truck

Congrats on the truck, gmc has a pretty good product. Id just rather have the cummins under my hood though, just think better at pullin heavy trailers than the other disels. But i still like the new chevy and gmc trucks. Everyone is biased to what they own and ive never had a problem with a dodge the few years ive have drove and I will always have one. Hope you like the truck
