Default 95 Warrior Pullstart spring.

I bought my warrior and the pullstart drum that the cord rides on was cracked and pretty warped too (from my guess they changed the cord and put too much in there and it bunched it up and pushed out the sides). So I took it appart and ordered a new drum and I pulled the old drum off and the spring stayed in so It was cool, there was tons of mud in the case from when I rode it the day before so I cleaned around the outside then I was moving the sping around on the inside cleaning it but making sure i didnt pull it out and I got dont cleaning it and set it down and the spring flung out.... and tips on how to get it back in the spot its supposed to be? Ive got it tighted down by hand so it fits in there and I put zip-ties around it and I took it off and almost got it in there and the center fell out and it spun out . I also tried putting the center in first and squeezing the outter rings in the space but then it gets too hard to push so I have to pull the springs in the middle tight so the outter ones loosen up but then it spings out from lack of pressure on it. Any ideas?
