Well, I do know that when my friend bought his blaster the dealer told him to take it easy and 3 tanks of gas did it. He started riding it hard after about 2 and it runs fine and idols and everything so I would say 2 whole tanks of gas going easy on it, which is not revving it up really high and puttin stress on the motor. After that you should be good

THere are different schools of thought on this. Search the forums. There's a website a guy did about not riding it easy. But getting on it pretty good, then letting it cool completely down. About 3 times like this. Most important thing is to COMPLETELY warm the bike up before you ride it.

My method is pretty involved but here goes:
Piston has all sharp edges sanded to a slight radius before installing.
Fire up and let idle for 5 minutes, shut down and cool for a hour.
Fire up again and idle/slightly blip throttle for 10 minutes, shut down and cool for a hour.
Fire up again and idle/slightly blip throttle for 15 minutes, shut down and cool for a hour.
Now ride it easy for 1/2 hour, shut down and cool for a hour.
Next, pull the top end apart and sand down any high spots on the piston. There will be slight scraping/galling at the high spots.
Put it back together and go hard.
This may sound extreme but my 85 cr500 is on its stock bore and 2nd piston. I also assembly the top end dry. When I lube the piston and cylinder before assembly I get blowby right from the beginning.
