Hondabuster gave some good advice...........My reccomendation for cleaning the jets is to use some small tip cleaners....Make sure you use the right size because a larger one might srew up the hole!!!!

Any suggestions on a carb cleaner? Is the Other the counter card cleaner at autostore ok? Does it help to let the carb soak in clean gasoline for a while?
My idle is set ok now, but still when I gun the gas- it now nearly shuts the motor off (after I adjusted high speed).

We use a Product called "Gunk", It can be found at most any autoparts store........Yes it will help to let clean gasoline soak in .....It will help to remove all the deposits...........

I went back thru and checked the carb out, and low and behold! the pilot jet was clogged. Its a bad clog and I cannot get it unclogged. I have tried gunk, gasoline, and a few other things to try and break up the junk. It looks like I need to invest a few dollars and purchase the pilot jet.
I also found out that the starter was going bad (intermittently) and opened it up. I found a brush that was broken and a bad brush electrical wire.
Looks like opening stuff up solves many problems!

I think I will rejet, but may hold off on the pipe for now. I am going to sell it once its reliable- and take proceeds and pay my house payment. I have put about 5 hours so far into it, so not a ton of time- but mostly just cleaning out the junk!
What are these valued at right now? 1995- Yamaha Timberwolf 2x4
Thanks guys!

At this point, you dont have much to lose by using force on the pilot jet...youre already thinking of buying another one. Usually a single strand of 20 gauge stranded wire, will push out the obstuction, and if not, you could try stainless wire, like off of a wire brush.
Youre doing good, in a short time youll have it running and having fun driving it.
My guess is about 1300 bucks...depending on whether it smokes, or has bad engine noise, tire condition and so forth.
