RAPTOR1,

With the force that comes with this backfire, I don't think any clamp is going to hold it on. It will just rip the boots apart.

Mine did it again, this time, it was warm and it was just as throttle was applied right off of idle. My dealer called Yamaha tech support and they said that the boots should be replaced if it has done it a few times. To cure the problem, they said to richen the idle mixture and move the needle up one notch.

Nope, a lean condition will cause a backfire thru the carbs, especially upon acceleration.

This is a very serious condition that requires quick resolution, else serious engine damage can result.

Im sorry you guys are having bad luck but mine is running like a dream now. I just wish if anything is going to happen that it would happen to it Now.

YAMARAPTOR,

I called the dealer today and he said everything checked out o.k. and it was ready to pick up. and he also said since they had it all apart he went ahead and did the first service and told me there wold be no charge. so it seems my raptor breaking was not so bad after all!

If a Banshee allows you to post in this forum, I'm sure a Kodiak will do as well. I take it you can read.
