and i dont wanna hear "the 660 came from the xt660, not the 686" well the xt660 got upgraded to fuel injection i believe, and the engine looks like the new raptors. and like i said its got a lousy 50hp, this is not a race engine. when they come out a YFZ700, then i'll want one

Thanks for the info GreenBeast! It's nice to read your report on the 700R. I'm going nuts waiting for mine to come in. Your post and pictures makes it slightly more bearable. I made my dealer promise to call when the crate arrives so I can watch/help them get it together. I welcome the fuel injection and look forward to learning the system. What do you think of the new tires??? What do you think you will change or add first? Bars, tires/rims, pipe (when available)??? Thanks again for the info!

isn't it a commonly accepted belief that the Rappy will take a YFZ over the long run. ie, wide open running. ie.. 1/2 mile runs as the poster stated?

Also, how were the rider weights compared?

I wouldn't mind knowing how the 700 handles compared to the 660. That was my one complaint.. it felt tippy. Didn't want to slide! That's one of the things I love most bout my YFZ.


people (mostly younger guys) love to get on the boards and post second hand information "oh, that bike would never beat this bike with these mods" and all that nonsense. It all comes down to who was there and what happened. If you have a race with a modded Banshee and a 250ex, and the Banshee blows the clutch off the line letting the 250ex win, the 250ex still WINS that race [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I'm not real sure about the tires yet, they seem to do really well so far. I'm running with the airbox lid off now, and plan to put on a high flow filter, and a different pipe on it. I'm holding off on the pipe untill a few come out. Right now the only one i've found for it is the GYTR, and I'd like to look at some others before jumping into it. And KRAW, i really haven't had enough seat time on a 660, not enough to really compare the two in detail, I can tell you that it isn't tippy at all.

I didn't read this whole post yet and only read the first page and wat i can tell from it poor little vinny3299 is whinning because he cant sell his yzf and get a 700 because he dosnt no how to shift and screwed up his enging. I really dont care wat u think but the 700 can beat beat the yfz in a drag. I raced one stock for stock this sat n i won by 4 bike lengths. So vinny untill you race one dont complain. O and I had my airbox off. And im also not the best rider n am sure the guy that i was racing wasnt ethier and we were racing on loose gravel on takin down old railway track to be exact. Am am also not having any disrespect for the yfz because if it was in a motorcross with the rappy am sure it would win.

 

from what i understand he did have a blue one he sold that for a 700r and then decided that it wasnt worth it and bought another yfz.
cant say i blame him, nothin compares to the yfz but at the same time i got respect for the new rapter so dont think im bashing it.

i dont think u can really compare the two, they are in different classes

 

I was able to sit on the 450, 660 and 700 yesterday at a dealer, they were all lined up in a row, the 450 is just not comfy and feels very small, but then it's a race quad and not meant to be ridden sitting down, the 700 felt alot better than the 660.
