Adjusting idle speed?
#1
Hi everyone,
I have a '04 Bruin 4x4 and moved the idle screw by mistake and was wondering what was the best way to get my quad idling correctly again. I don't have anything like an rpm gauge to test it.
Thanks

Just turn it back the other way until it's idling at a level you like. I don't think you have to have it at an exact RPM, just set it to where you like it. Be sure and do this when it's fully warmed up though. Others here may suggest an exact RPM, but I just do it by ear.

Yeah, it doesn't have to be an EXACT RPM. You should be able to tell by the way it sounds, if it's right or not. Too low of an idle will cause you to bog down on take-off, or even cause it to die at idle. Too high of an idle and you will lose engine braking, and have some really weird take-offs.

No... I adjust mine while its warm. You can adjust it is very easy like every one said just listen to get it where you want

if bruins have a round slide carb thenb make sure you bleep the throttle when adjusting the idle so you dont wear holes into the side of your slide like i did. just give it throttle adjust it alittle and then let off and see what its like and repeat until its right. hope this helps
