Ok this is what ive seen in my past experiences.........In a drag race both the raptor and YFZ beat the 250R the whole way. When your talking Raptor vs YFZ in a drag the YFZ will beat the Raptor the whole way until the it tops out,Then the Raptor has a few mph on top. The Raptor is great in the trails, awesome in the sand, but not so good on an mx track, [tall and tippy]. 2-strokes fair better in horse power when you mod them, but its still only a 250, if you want a drag bike that you are going to mod get a Banshee,or a zilla. For MX the best choice would be the YFZ or the TRX. The 250R would not be a bad chocie by any means it is just outdated as far as technology goes. The Raptor 660 is not a good mxer, the 700R will be a little better it has more of a yfz stance lower and wider. Take a look at the new Suzuki Z450 when it comes out, i cant say much about it now cause i havent seen it, but i hear they mean business with this one! just like the YFZ,and TRX it is designed specifly for mx racing.

yes true but didnt the 250r dominate the track for like 16 years??? that seems like a pretty bad bike 2 me! and iv herd that it does beat the 660r in trails and stuff like that b/c it has alot of power and its really light. but i think it would be a great match between a updated 250r and a yfz450 on a track and trail IMO it would come down to the rider

My friend use to have one [250R] it was stock. I didnt like it in the trails at all. It felt a little bit quicker than my friends blaster his blaster was piped, jetted, and has a high compression pistion kit, but still it couldnt touch any of the banshees around. I think the trails belong to the raptor and predator, and also the DS650. It would take a good amount of money to update it to beat a YFZ. The 250 has always been a good mxer, but quad companys have not targeted mx racing until just a few years ago.

allright one thing the 250r is a 2stroke with 47hp and plus what ever you got 4stroke cut the cc's in half and its a 2stroke... power to weight ratio is crazy on 250r... yfz very similar just not like the 250r.... 250r will blow them both in a drag stock for stock because its a 2stroke and its geared for high speeds... raptor is too heavy and will lose in everything.... it would be very close on the mx track between the 250r and the yfz but i would have to give it to the 250r just because its a 2stroke and its lighter with more horsepower... 2strokes are quicker too and thats what you want in an mx race

The Banshee doesnt even have 47 horsepower, and thats a 350. In drag races ive seen YFZs tool on 250Rs, the YFZ has alot more horsepower than a 250R by the way. Cut the cc's in half and its a 2-stroke? 2-strokes and 4 strokes are complely different buddy. The only quad ever made with over 45 horse is the quad zilla 500 2-stoke your out of your mind.

Yea man, the 660 eats the 250r away, it may get a tid bit ahead of it off gate, but the 660 will eat it away all after that, and the yfz and the 660 are side by side stock to stock til topped out. When the 660 gets its restrictive intake opened up and exaust, there is no piped and jetted quad out there besides a zilla that will take it.Not even a ds, im sorry guys but i have seen it before, the ds puts up the best fight though.I love watching ds's and raptors battle it out all the time. They are 2 of my favorite quads.Just love watchin them keep racing and they both win at times. But an opened up raptor (intake and exaust) will take the ds even if it is opened up.Because it doesnt do too much for the ds cuz the intake and exaust are almost aftermarket performance when its stock. The raptor is way too restricted so you cant actually see its real beastily power. And the 250r gets blown away by all of these beasts. The banshee gets beaten pretty bad sometimes by these bigboys. And 47 hp!?!?!?!LOL.......YOU made my day.

Hey i raced my friends 250R once with my raptor i beat him off the line, and the rest 660R kills it in torque and in raw power, i got a few mods but whatever lol. fasterthanyou22, it hurts to say this but a stock raptor only hangs with a DS until 4th gear .................unless the riders are not evenly matched. Also those piped and jetted shees scream, when you mod a banshee it fairs better in horsepower than a raptor cause its a 2 stroke.

Yea man i know, but they top out too fast, and the ds doesnt exactly blow the 660 away, it will barely beat it stock to stock, well, by like 1 to 3 bike lengths. And you know for a fact man, that when you open up the intake and exaust on the 660 it roars....LOL, you know that for a fact dude. And you know it would take a ds with the same stuff on it.I know for a fact because i have seen it.But i have only seen a stock 250r and a slightly modded one against a 660 and a few other quads.and the modded one took the 660 off the line a lil bit but the 660 raped it after that.I raced a stock one and i raped it the whole way through, only by like 5 or 6 or 9 bike lengths...lol.

This may be the first time I have ever heard anyone say the Raptor will loose in everything haha. 4-stroke technology has surpased the technology of the 2-stroke. Pretty soon you will not even see a 2-stroke in a quad anymore. The Raptor will destroy the 250R in the trails, but the 250R will beat it on a track. I dont even think it is even fair to compare these two machines beacuse they are made for two completely different types of riding. As far as drag-racing goes in most situations a stock raptor will beat a stock banshee in a drag, so my point being if a 350 2-stroke twin cant beat a 660R, how the hell is a 250 2-stroke single going to. Maybe beacuse its lighter haha not by too much there is NO replacement for DISPLACEMENT.
