I have had my kodiak for over a year now and it has been an awesome machine for me.I have been slowly adding after market parts(Bearclaws,Oxlite cv guards,Warn winch, gear bag) Now I would like to do a little bit of performance mods but am not sure how to go about it or if I should. The machine runs just fine but I want it to run at its full potential. When I pull my air box cover off it seems to smell real strong of gas as if its almost flooded. When I run it wide open it seems like it runs a little rich. It might just need the mix adjustment screw turned a little but I'm not sure where it is at,or if I should turn it in or out, it looks like it is on the very bottom of the carb? I've noticed that alot of you kodiak owners are re-jetting,changing to a K&N filter and gaining some performance.I live at an elevation of around 800-1800 ft. in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. As I said before I love my kodiak but am not sure if it is running at its peak. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

In order to test if it's running at it's peak, just remove the spark plug. Instead of trying to tell you what to look for before you remove it just stop by your local auto parts dealer. They always have pictures of what the spark plug should look like. If it's black/dark then you're definitely running rich.
