Red Hot Header Pipes on 700R
Have only got about 5 hours on the new beast. After washing the raptor I started it up and left it to idle for about 1-2 minutes, I noticed the headers were glowing red all the way back to the first cover, about 5-6 inches. This seems to be very hot? Has anyone else noticed this on their new Raptors? Maybe its running too lean? I havent checked the spark plug yet. What do you think?

Red Hot Header Pipes on 700R
Have just spoke with the dealer and they think that it is normal because of the "titanium header pipes"? Didnt know the header pipes were titanium stock? Does anyone know if this is right?
sicknectarsweetair the Raptor 700R is fuel injected - no jets. You have to tune it with a computer.

Any 4-stroke that has UN-PAINTED exhaust will glow red if you let it idle too long, doesn't matter if it's titanium or stainless steel...my stock YZ 450 header did & now the Dubach header I have does the same thing. You're not lean...next time it's glowing like that rap the throttle a few times & watch the glow fade a little as the exhaust flowing through cools the pipes - if it was caused by a lean condition it would glow worse as you revved it. I have now owned 3 dirtbikes (99 YZ 400F, 02 YZ 426F, 04 YZ 450F) that all did the same thing & so do my friends thumpers.

Yeah good point. I just didnt expect to see it glow 6 inches of pipe. The 660 raptor would glow the first two inches of header pipe. I tried holding the throtle at about 50% of total RPM and it didnt cool off. I just parted with $12,500au for the new beast and I just dont want to do any damage.
