Raptor vr. Banshees
#1
This weekend I went riding with a few of my buddies and seen some other guys with some Banshees, We stopped to tak with them because the one Banshee sounded real good. It had Duncan exhaust system on it and a few other things. The other Banshee was Completely stock (2001). My friend has a stock 400Ex and they decides to race the stock Banshee. It was about a 200yard paved road. The bashee beat the 400EX by about a bike or two. I then raced the Banshee on my Raptor and totoally destroyed it. Turned around raced again, same outcome. Finally the Piped Bansnee wanted to see what my Raptor had in a drag race thinking he would destroy me, no chance. We both lined up and when they said go we took of, both of us pulled front end straight up and when we got the fronts down the Banshee was slightly ahead then the Raptor took over and I never looked back. I won by at least 5 quad lengths. Turned around to race again, this time I started in second gear and did alot better kept front end down somewhat and lest him . All I have is a 12t front sprcoket. Which is a must. I lost probally a few M.P.H. on top end but not enough for a Banshee, stock or modded, to keep up with this beast.
I don't see what all the Hype is about a Banshee, especially a stock. The guy let me ride his Banshee and he rode my Raptor. The Banshee felt like a kids toy. When you give them gas they go but no power then they hit there powerband, but still dont feel near as strong as Raptor.

who the hell cares....i knew eventually this argument would arise somewhere...jus drop..they are 2 awesome machines..they both have there specialty areAS..like the banshee is the king of the dunes and the raptor is king of the trails....so this argument is pointless..but i thought i would put my 2 sense in...hahaha

Wow,
What can be said for such eloquent writing style? With your spelling skill I bet you were the only one in your family to make it to 6th grade.
Shall we talk speed? Let's talk speed. I had the pleasure of riding with a friend who just got his new Raptor. Its a very nice machine. Anyway, I have a digital speedometer and he asked me if I'd be kind enough to ride next to him and give him a ballpark figure on his top speed. So I lined up next to him on my banshee and we took off. Being the polite person that I am I just stayed next to him as he accelerated through the gears. When he hit his top speed I evened out next to him and his Raptor topped out right around 73mph.
After we stopped I told him how fast he went and he was really happy about it. He asked me if I was "Wide open" next to him. I shook my head and let him know that I wasn't trying to race him. So he insisted we drag race. I already knew in advance that my banshee has a top speed of 86mph with stock gearing and stock tire height, but I raced him anyway. By the end of a 250 yard drag strip I was topped out over 80 and he was far enough behind that he just gave up. Afterwards all he had to say was, "Wow, Do you think I should have bought a banshee instead?" My response was, "No, You have a really nice machine, and I don't think you went wrong at all."
Speed isn't everything, but it is what banshees do better.
That's speed.

If the race was a longer distance, a piped banshee would have caught up and passed the Raptor, especially with the Raptor running a 12 tooth sprocket. But the duncan exhaust might be setup for trail riding, i.e. less topend power. If the banshee had FMF or toomey pipes the banshee would have caught up and passed the Raptor.
