Default banshee questions

Hey, what's up I've got a couple of questions.First, whenever I'm riding my banshee hard for a little while,(7-8 hard rips 1st thru 4th),it starts getting hot, I think..Well it starts to cut out from 3000 rpm until it hits the powerband, then it takes off like a bat outa hell.Does it lean out when it gets hot?Or is it maybe an ignition problem?Or maybe it's just getting uber hot....I'm new to the banshee....So.... if it is getting hot, what are some cheap mods I can do to lower the temp for now?I plan to get something like one of those new noss coolheads later, but for now I need a cheap fix, if possible.I have pro circuit exhaust, 340 mains, dynojet needles on 4th clip,1 1/2 turns out on air screw,k&n pods, and dune porting, stock timing & compression, and I live at 'bout 0 elev....think that's it.By the way,I love this machine!!!I need to get her runnin' right,so any help would be appreciated.

My 99 has pro curcit pipes, shaved head, pro design intake kit with no lid, and ported cylinders. I run a 300 mikuni main jet, needle clip in the 3rd position, a 27.5 pilot jet, and mix at 42:1, at 650 ft evevation. This set up flat ripps. I think you are rich on the needles, and posibily on the mains also.............................................. ................If you are using dynojet mains you are probily ok on the mains.

Does it get hot enough to boil over? Might want to check your water pump impeller.

Yeah I just redid nearly the whole engine except for the tranny. The impeller is like new.It might not actually be overheating, but I cant figure why it would cut out after 10-15 minutes of hard riding. Now that I think of it, it does it a little bit before getting real hot.It just kinda cuts out randomly under hard acceleration and gets worse the longer I ride.If I kill it and let it cool for like 5, it'll be fine for a few more minutes then start up again.

Are your radiator fins blocked with crud, or are some fins bent shut?

I really do not think this will fix your problem but it doesnt hurt to check. I have noticed lately alot of Banshee start running bad, like a fouled plug or something. What happens is the plug wires get loose in the coil. You push em back on and they run good again.

When you Banshee gets hot, does it puke coolant? A quick and inexpensive cooling fix is to get an inline cooler. They work great, drops temp down about 5-8 degrees maybe more. Also try using that engine ice coolant. I have not personaly ran it yet but my friends do with their YFZ450s and they noticed a difference. I am currently having my clutch cover custom painted and will use the engine ice when I bolt everything back on.
