Any BAD 04 raptor one-ways?
#1
I found by searching that "Knowsalot" posted a thread on changes for the 04 raptor, but the last thing mentioned about " is it a fix?" was that time will tell.
So , has anyone had to replace their one way starter clutches on 04 or newer bikes? I am looking for a second raptor 660 and want to know if I can avoid the $255 bill for a new one-way starter clutch, ala LA Design's mod.
Thanks
Allen

To further the discussion... is the LA one way I just installed in my son's 03 a better fix than the 04 and up unit, or are they the same? I assumed the one way on the 03 was a one time change, although I did see some one way's had cracking issues in another thread.
So since the 04's have one-way problems, is an 03 as good as an 04? I was strictly thinking the 04 was a better choice than the 03, but it sounds like they have the same issues .
Thanks for any other suggestions,
Allen

The scary part to me is, on our 03 it had ( according to tire wear and orig owner) 3 fueltanks full of use, and it growled and kicked back when shut off. Due to research here I knew not to keep running it, but I am sure if I didn't find this website we would have kept running it and making gobs of metal chips in the crankcase... ie a USED bike has it's faults.
I spent more than an hour with oily towels removing all of the metal flakes I could find, and installed a magnetic drainplug to catch the flakes I know got away....The needles on the old oneway had substantial flatspots, indicating lots of metal flakes were made.
Thanks

My 02 one-way lasted 1 1/2 yrs, don't start it in gear with the clutch pulled in, always start in netural with the clutch pulled in, I've heard that helps, but then I have an L&A in presently. I wonder if there's gonna be any issues with the 700R one-way?
