Default 2006 YZF450 vs TRX450r....

barry1me,
I still don't think the 450R lost due to poor riding. We were racing up a mountain of sand that is 700 vertical feet, and roughly a quarter mile in linear feet. The sand was steep enough that the KTM 525 only had enough power to pull second gear, but second gear is still fast enough to outrun a Banshee in fourth gear (its a desert racing bike, and its geared very high). I admit I wasn't looking for a race, I was trolling for victims, and when I saw that tricked out 450R with aftermarket goodies on it I could not help myself. I pulled up next to him and waited for him to go, but he did not seem to want to race, so I put my bike in neutral and shut the engine off. As soon as I did that a YFZ pulled up, and they both dropped the hammer. I was the one that was asleep on the starting line, not the 450R rider, and I had to start my bike and put it in gear, which gave both quads a 200 foot head start. I posted the results above, but failed to mention that the YFZ also beat the 450R (sorry about that). Have a good day.

Default 2006 YZF450 vs TRX450r....

I know this is a yamaha forum so everone in here is gonna be partial to yamaha's and so was i until i rode both of them... i can only compair 2005 modles but here were the pro's and con's that i found .. the yamaha i rode had a carbon fiber yoshi pipe (slip on) 18" holeshots and the trx had a steel yoshi slip on and a stage 2 cam.... i dont know if it was the tires or what but i hated the gear ratio of the yfz first geat felt pointless i rode both of these on the road sand and trails.... drag racing on the road the yfz pulled about 2 quad lengths on the trx but shifting into 4th gear the honda fly's by it like the yamaha was sitting still... this could be the tires i dont know.. the honda was more comfortable and easier to ride ... i had to shift more on the yamaha .... in the sand they were about the same but the honda still wont in a 300ft drag... one more thing i noticed the handle bars on the yamaha felt funny... climbing hills ... both were good i climbed everything in first gear on the honda and 2nd or 3rd on the yamaha... hope i help
