Need help with fuel
#1
I need to buy some fuel so that I can drive my bike. I just got my motor back and I will be putting it back in the bike in the next week or so. But here is my question, since I can't run pump gas anymore what do I get. I was just on VP's website, and I had not the slightest Idea on what fuel I should get there were so many options. Would I benefit at all from running oxygenated fuel. And can I run methanol maby, or posibly a blend of methanol and something else. Basically I just want a fuell that will not blow my motor up, and make as much power as possible. I will be drag racing the bike on the weekends and for those times I would like something that will make as much power as possible. but for the week when I just cruise trails I would like something that would be more practile to ride on for several hours at a time. Thanks.

First you are going to have to tell us what the builder set the static compression at. Is it 12.5 like in your profile? If so, just get some Trick or VP or whatever your local track sells at around 110 octane. 110 is a little over kill for 12.5 to 1 but better safe than sorry as far as detonation goes. 110 is the cheapest race gas you can buy. At least around my neck of the woods it is. If you try for something like 100 octane it is rare and everybody wants to charge an arm and a leg to order it.
No reason to go ox fuel. It's very expensive to run. Unless your in a heads up class it's a waste of money IMO. If you want to get creative you can make a cheap verson of your own. For every 90% of race fuel you can dump in 10% methanol. If you do this and your jetting is on the money now, your going to have to jet up a bit. Don't go above about 10% meth or you will run the risk of phase separation, especially in cool weather.
