Default Kodiak 450 Belt Problems

I have a 2005 Kodiak 450. A few weeks ago I disassembled the centrifugal "clutch" that drives the belt to clean mud out of it. When I reassembled it, the nut that holds it onto the shaft backed off as I was riding. It has done this 2 times. The second time came after talking with the parts guy at my local dealership (shop guys won't answer my questions). He told me that the nut required 17 ft/lbs of torque but I think he was looking at a comic book when he told me that. Has anyone else experienced this or a similar problem?

Its more like 72 ft/lbs.
If you go to my gallery page, youll see a picture of how i hold the pulley, and tighten with a torque wrench. Just click on the camera icon to the left.

Default Kodiak 450 Belt Problems

Hey, I really appreciate that. I didn't think 17 sounded right. I'm going to order a new nut tomorrow when the dealership opens and get this thing back on the trails. I will get back with you later on the new weights. I've got 4 friends riding Kodiaks also and the next mod we will probably do is the clutch kits.

Thanks for the info and thanks for the welcome!
