Raptor 660 headlight problems
#1
I have a 2002 Yamaha Raptor 660. I got two problems that are driving me nuts.
1)The headlights work fine on dim. When I turn them on bright, the left headlight goes completely out. I just installed brand new factory yamaha headlight bulbs and a new battery. Problem still there. I just installed a brand new handlebar starter/headlight switch and it still didn't fix it. What else could it be?
2)Sometimes, it gets stuck in second gear, and I can't shift down into first gear. This happens sitting still. I have to get off the bike and shake the lever with my hand. There is no play in the linkage. Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The light sounds like an exposed or frayed wire. Check the plug in where the light connects/disconnects and follow the wiring to see what kind of shape it's in. I responded to the shifter in the other thread.

The no 2 problem could require removing the lhs footpeg and remove the circlip off the peg and remove the gear linkage and O ring, use vaseline or rubber grease and refit and should be fine. We have had this problem on several 660's .
