Default Mods for a '04 blaster

No there isn't a special linkage needed for the rear..The 400ex shock is a little better to work with in my opinion..Reason being is, first off if you use a 250R shock, you will be using a 20 Year old shock..Also the only years you can really use is 86, 87 and 88..If i was you i would use a 400ex, KFX, DVX or the LTZ400 shock..They are all only a 1/2 inch longer than the stock shock and are fully adjustable..They will work fine with your stock swingarm, or a + size swingarm..

As far as the front shocks if you stay with stock length a-arms banshee shocks are a nice improvment..If you go wider sometimes you will have to use a longer shock(most the time a 16' front shock..If thats the case there is a few cheap alternatives you can use..First off the 400ex front shocks are 16' Also the yfz shocks are 16' and have rezzies, but most the time you cant find them for under 200..For that price you might as well get works or something designed for the bike..

Not to send a cheap plug or anything, but if you are fixing to start modding the blaster you should head to a site thats specifically about blasters..Go and Check out planetblaster.org ..From there look at the DIY(do it yourself) section and you can find bunches of cheap mod's that can make a huge improvment..One of them is actually a step by step on how to do the 400ex shock swap, along with all kinds of other information..

Hope that helps

Is a bigger carb a good idea? Everyone says it is, but is it a "good bang for the buck"

Yeah it's a nice mod..I felt a big difference when i went up to a 30mm PWK..Then i had the motor ported and sold the 30 and went to a 34pj(a 250R carb)..You can find the 250R carb's pretty cheap on ebay..You need to use a throttle cable and throttle from a 250R as well.. Either way they were both are good carb set up's..IF you go with a 30mm you can still get it to fit in the stock intake manifold and airbox to carb boot..Anything bigger than that and you have to buy a adaptor for the airbox and a larger intake manifold..

My favorite is the LRD..There the type of no bull **** company that i like to deal with..They have dyno sheets of there power gains right on there website..There customer service is great and the quality of there product is the best..If your looking for big power gains and can't afford the LRD go with the Project blaster pipe..It's the best bang for the buck..But imo the LRD is the best..

can you use a '04 Yamaha YFZ-450 rear shock? My friend got new shocks and he is selling his old ones so I was just wondering.
