05/06 Kodiak 450 owners - skid plates
#1
Just wondering if anyone has the Armadillo plastic full belly skids on their 2005/2006 Kodiak 450? If so, how do they do on rocks and how are they holding up? I'm considering these vs. aluminum skids. Thanks for replies.

I looked into the Armidillo skid plates. I couldn't get them to say they fit the Kodiak with the IRS. So I went to Ricochet
Skids. Fit perfect and hold up great, been rock surfing a couple of times on them.

Here's the link for Ricochet, I didn't see if they specified 400/450. Here's a link with contact info.http://www.utahsportcycle.com/ricoFS.htm
In response to another post, I'm told a plow mount can be used with the plates. At least Cycle country plows, they connect to the floorboard supports.

I'll have to check further into how my warn plow mounts. I have the ricochet plates on my prairie and they have taken ridiculous abuse without problems..

Pretty sure to mount the warn mount you would have to modify the aftermarket skid plate. heck the dealer had to modify the stock plastic one to make it fit correctly. I did ask one dealer selling skid plates and they did said it would work but I would have to cut out where it needed to mount. So in other words not a good option unless you can cut heavy aluminum. Would be nice if they offer a warn plow mount friendly skid plate. I will leave my underbody plastic and just run the aluminum A-Arm guards front and back. I think the stock plastic under body holds up very well unless your doing lots of rock climbing.

I think I broke the stock plastic plates within the first three rides...one good high center plop on a rock or log and they're done pretty much....granted yes, it was in rough terrain, not your average 30mph trail cruise..
It's too bad they didn't plan better to allow for plow mounts etc...plows are common enough of an accessory, you'd think they would have. Oh well.
Edit: sorry to have hijacked the thread away from the original poster. To answer your question, get some ricochets or something like them, but forget the plastic stuff.

I mounted a cycle country plow this weekend. I have the Ricochet skidplates. I had to do a little trimming, about an eighth of an inch on each side. Not a big problem, except I used silicone between the plates and the frame. Let it snow!!!!
