kokiak wheelie?
#1
In the last issue of dirt wheels they show a 4x4 kodiak doing a wheelie. I am looking hard at buying the kodiak and test drove one at the dealer yesturday. I am pretty good at doing wheelies on my moto 4 and have some weight to throw around. When I tried to bring up the front on the kodiak I came about an inch off the ground. Whats the trick or was dirt wheels full of it. Just wondering.

It's about as accurate as the spec block is at the end of the article where they've stated that the final drive is via chain.
If you put the winch on and heavier mud tires, the wheelies are out. It's a great machine! You'll enjoy the heck out of it, wheelies or not!

Wether there made for it or not isn't the question, and yes it will wheelie with a winch and ITP tires as well. I saw the salesman at the Yamaha shop that I bought my machine from wheelie one about 40 feet. When I thought that was amazing he did it with a Griz, even further.
I will ask him how he does it and get back to you. I have his home phone. be right back.

OK. Here's the method. Well.. it works for me anyway but you need to have just the right traction.. Hold your front brake on and lean far forward then get your rear tires spinning, let off the brake, pull back, and giver all it's got
in 2WD of course...
I have 26" bearclaw tires and they hook up pretty good on hardpack.
The other way is just hit some small bumps or jumps. My kodiak has plenty of power to keep the front end up, once it gets there..

He didn't ask what "utility quads" should and shoulden't be used for. I suppose hunting on a raptor is wrong too? Alrighty then.. let's just all go buy a quad for every day of the damn week.

Why? Because sometimes you just want to have fun! I didn't buy my Grizzly for work. I bought it for crawling over and through anything that gets in my way
Plus they scream when your on an open trail.
Anyway, they just need a little help getting started. All you have to do is sit back a little farther then usual, push down on the handle bars, hit the gas and give a nice yank back up and it should come up. Just be careful because it might get away from you once mid-range kicks in. Good luck!
