How big of an upgrade are the yfz shocks over the raptors stock ones?

I have +2 a arms and im feeling way too soft in the front end, not to mention im 240lbs...Im mostly doing trail riding and small jumps,,,Before the +2 a arms I was getting about 4 ft of air landing flat and the suspension did fairly well, never bottoming out (getting there), but now im sort of afraid to hit that jump cause of the wider stance...

Should I just save and spend the money on some work shocks?

Will the yfz shocks be worth it?

And what do they usually go for on ebay? There are some at like 150$ right now BUT there is still considerable time left.

What years fit? any better then any others?

YFZ stockers - 200 bucks
Revalve / Rebuild - 200-300 bucks

That gives you compression, preload, and rebound adjustable piggyback rezzie shocks with huge shafts and springs for 400-500 bucks. That will barely get you a set of triple rate works steelers with the baby sized shafts, no adjustments, and no rezzies.

I didnt revalve mine because they arent used much (no jumping) but they have certainly been an upgrade from stock. I too have extended a arms and I've been very happy with the purchase. The 04 shocks are slightly stiffer and better IMO for the heavier raptor but if you're a jumper they should be revalved for the bike and rider.

I believe you're the first I've heard of having such a problem. I know quite a few have broken or bent their stock shocks from wrecks and jumps but havent heard of a weld cracking from normal use.

i have the quad apart and it definitly is caused by a cold weld as they call it. the weld is still on the bottom of shock eye where the bushing sits but the weld seperated from the bottom of the shock. this is cleary a manufacturing defect.

You are better of to buy works dual rate shocks, they are higher quality than oem shock obsorbers, and you will be able to find them for abot the same price
