Default Boring out a Blaster

I have a 2001 blaster that has been bored .60 over. Everything else is stock except for the oil block. Is a larger carb and / or exhaust needed to run at an optimal level? I just bought it at a great price, but it feels like its being held back (bogging) and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to idle properly. A mechanic I talked to mentioned the carb and exhaust, but I just want to follow-up to see whether he was being helpful and just trying to drum up business (he suggested I bring it to his shop for the upgrades).

Oh yeah, when I bought it there was only about a half hour on the bored out engine so it's still being broken in.

Do you have a high compression piston to go with that cylinder bore?

I'm not sure what kind of piston is in it. The guy I bought it off wasn't sure either (it was his son's bike, but he sold it because his kid kept getting it impounded for riding on the road). I tried to ask his son, but he was too p*ssed off to answer me. He did tell me where he had the work done. I called them and they don't know since he brought the all the parts to them. All I know is that it's a Wiseco. Is there anyway to tell what it is? I'm new to the 2 stroke world and still have a ton to learn.

Well back to your original question, yes you should have an aftermarket exhaust, a high flow air filter, and appropriate jetting to compensate for the increased airflow. My reccomendation for the pipe would be the Toomey B1, my friend put one his blaster and it gave him a very good increase in power. For the air filter, I think you should definetly go with a K&N. I use one on my ATC350 and love the performance.

Hope I helped.

Get a larger carb, kn filter, get the head decked, get some porting, and get either an fmf , t 5, or a vitos pipe.
